| RoundClock:
Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
| If you have any questions about RoundClock or
suggestions for a new release of this program or
if you have any problems with RoundClock please do
not hesitate to contact us at via e-mail roundclock@fkware.com.
| What system
resources are used by RoundClock? |
RoundClock uses very little system
resources. The memory footprint of
RoundClock is only 120 KByte. And, of
course, RoundClock uses a timer to stay
current with your system's time.
|
| How is system
performance effected by RoundClock? |
RoundClock uses between 0.10% and 0.20%
of the CPU's time according to Wintop.exe
from the Microsoft Kernel Toys. The CPU
usage depends partly on the size of the
clock face.
|
| Is RoundClock
Year-2000 compliant? |
Yes, of course it is. RoundClock uses
the functions of Windows to get the
current time and date und uses the system
routines to format the date strings. And
since the Windows functions are fully
Year-2000 compliant RoundClock is
Y2K-compliant, too.
|
| I have
entered the correct registration code but
RoundClock seems to ignore it? |
Please check if you have entered name
and code exactly as they appear on your
registration confirmation.
Any version of RoundClock before 2.11
needs to be restarted manually to activate
the registration. To restart RoundClock
open the popup menu (right click on the
clock face or the tray icon) and select
'Close RoundClock', then start RoundClock
again.
Important: RoundClock 2.14 (and before)
and RoundClock 2.20 (and later) need
different registration keys. If you do not
have the right key for your version of
RoundClock please ask for a new key at
newkey@fkware.com (free).
|
| Where do I get
the latest updates of RoundClock? |
RoundClock is also available on every SimTel
mirror in the folder /win95/clocks/.
The file is named rclke???.zip where ???
represents the version number.
|
| I have lost my
registration code. What can I do now? |
Just write a short note to newkey@fkware.com,
along with your name and address.
We'll send you your code as soon as
possible after checking our database.
|
| Is my registration
code valid for future versions? |
YES, it is. The code is valid for all
future releases of RoundClock. However, if we decide to change the
coding algorithm for the registration keys
in the future you need to contact us to
get a new code. Just write an e-mail with
name and address to
newkey@fkware.com and you'll get your
new code for free.
|
| I have
suggestions for RoundClock. What should I do
now? |
| Will RoundClock run with future version
of Windows? |
As far as we know - YES. RoundClock
uses no undocumented features of Windows
or 'dirty tricks', so as long as Microsoft
does not change the programming API of
Windows there will be no problems with
RoundClock. RoundClock was successfully
tested with Windows 2000 beta3!
|
| Why does RoundClock
not run with Windows 3.x? |
RoundClock is as 32 bit program and
requires a 32 bit Windows. Even if you
have installed Win32s RoundClock is unable
to run because some vital features (like
threads or non-rectangular windows) are
missing from this extension.
